Searching for users

About the Search Users form

The Search Users form displays when you click the find icon or link next to a user field. You use the Search Users form to search for and select a user, for example to:

  • Select a registered user
  • Select a coordinator
  • Select a company primary contact
  • Select an order contact

User search criteria

The user search criteria can include:

Company name The name of the company the user belongs to. This criterion is always locked. The name of the company is always known before the user search.
Last name

The last name of the user. To search for a user with a specific last name, type the name into the field.

The last name field supports partial criteria with the wild card. For example, to find all users whose last names begin with the letter A, type “A%” into the field.

First name

The first name of the user. To search for a user with a specific first name, type the name into the field.

The first name field supports partial criteria with the wild card. For example, to find all users whose first names begin with the letter A, type “A%” into the field.

Email

The user’s email address. To search for a user with a specific email address, the address into the field.

The email field supports partial criteria with the wild card. For example, to find all users whose email addresses begin with the letter A, type “A%” into the field.

Phone

The user’s phone number. To search for a user with a specific phone number, the number into the field.

The phone field supports partial criteria with the wild card. For example, to find all users whose phone numbers begin with “555”, type “555%” into the field.

Status

The status (Active or Inactive) for the user. To search for a user with a specific status, select the status from the dropdown.

For some searches, the user status may be restricted. In many cases, the selected user must be active. In that case, the Status field is locked to Active.

Other properties The publisher may provide other custom properties that you can use to search for users. Depending on the property, you either type the value in a field or select a value from the dropdown.

Searching for and selecting a user

When the Search Users form displays, it automatically lists all of the users belonging to the selected company. If the selected user must be active, then only active users are included.

You can use the remaining criteria to narrow the list. After providing the criteria, click Search Users to update the list based on your criteria.

Use the Next and Previous links to navigate through the list.

When you see the user you want, click their Select link.

Adding and editing companies from the search

Depending on the process and your security privileges, you may be able to create or edit a user from the user search.

If you can create a new company, then the Add a user link displays on the search form. Click this link to display the User Maintenance form. After providing the user details, click Save to both save and select the new user.

If you can edit the companies in the results, then an Edit link displays in the rightmost column. Click this link to display the User Maintenance form. After updating the user details, click Save to both save and select the updated user.
