About the Search Products form
The Search Products form displays when you click a find icon or link next to a product field. You use the Search Products form to search for and select a product, for example to:
- Provide search criteria
- Select an entitlement or order product
- Select products for upgrades
- Selects products that are linked to other products
Regular product search criteria
When the form first displays, the following criteria are available:
| Product # |
The product number. To search for a product with a specific product number, type the number into the field. The product number field supports partial criteria using the wild card. For example, to find all products with a product number that begins with “123”, type “123%” into the field. |
Title |
The product name. To search for a product with a specific name, type the name into the field. The product name field supports partial criteria using the wild card. For example, to find all products with a name that begins with “Doc”, type “Doc%” into the field. |
Product line | The product line. To search for a product that belongs to a specific product line, select the product line from the dropdown. | Product type | The type of product. To search for a product that has a specific product type, select the product type from the dropdown. | Family |
The product family. To search for a product that belongs to a specific family, select the family from the combo box. Combo boxes allow you to search for a specific value by typing it in the combo box field. As you type the value you want, the list is filtered to display the matching values. |
Advanced product search criteria
To display additional criteria to help in your search, click Advanced Search.
The advanced criteria can include:
| Version |
The product version. To search for a product with a specific version, type the version into the field. The version field supports partial criteria using the wild card. For example, to find all products with a version beginning with “1”, type “1%” into the field. |
Status |
The product status. To search for a product with a specific status, select the status from the dropdown. If only available products may be selected, the status may be locked to Available. |
Language |
The language assigned to the product. To search for a product with a specific language, select the language from the dropdown. The language may or may not be available as a search criterion depending on the application configuration. |
Media |
The type of media (License, CD-ROM, etc.) assigned to the product. To search for a product with a specific media, select the media from the dropdown. The media may or may not be available as a search criterion depending on the application configuration. |
Platform |
The platform (usually an operating system) assigned to the product. To search for a product with a specific platform, select the platform from the dropdown. The platform may or may not be available as a search criterion depending on the application configuration. |
Deployment |
The type of deployment (standalone, networked) for the product. To search for a product with a specific deployment, select the deployment from the dropdown. The deployment may or may not be available as a search criterion depending on the application configuration. |
Market segment |
The market segment (corporate, education, government, etc.) for the product. To search for a product with a specific market segment, select the market segment from the dropdown. The market segment may or may not be available as a search criterion depending on the application configuration. |
Other properties | The publisher may provide other custom properties that you can use to search for products. Depending on the property, you either type the value in a field or select a value from the dropdown. |
Searching for and selecting the product
After providing your search criteria, to find and select the company:
- Click Search Products. If no products match your criteria, a “No matches found” message displays.
Otherwise, the list of matching products displays.
- Use the Next and Previous links to navigate through the list. If a column heading is a hyperlink, then you can also sort the list by that column.
- If you can select only one product, then when you see the product you want, click its Select link. If you can select multiple products, for example to select a list of products for which to search for entitlements, then check the check box next to each product. After selecting the products, click Select checked products.
The form closes and the product or products you selected are used to populate the appropriate field.
