About the Filter Values form
The Filter Values form displays when you click the find icon or link for items such as:
- Terms to use in activation rule sets
- Component vendors
- Descriptions of downloadable files for products
- License key annotations, legal disclaimers, and installation instructions
The Filter Values form is used instead of a dropdown when the values may be too numerous or too long for a dropdown.
Filtering the values
When the form first displays, all of the available are displayed. The list includes the code that represents the value, and the text of the value.
To filter the list based on the description, type the description into the Description field, then click Filter Values.
The Description field supports partial criteria using the wild card character. For example, to find all values that have the word “locking” in the description, type “%locking%” in the description field.
Selecting a value from the list
When you see the value you want to use, click its Select link. The form closes and the value is used to populate the field.
Adding a value
If you are able to add a new value, then an Add new value link displays on the form.
To add a value instead of selecting an existing value:
- Click Add a value. The List Value Maintenance form displays.
- In the Value field, type the description of the value.
- In the Code field, type the code representing the value.
- Provide values if needed for Custom 1 , Custom 2 , and Custom 3.
- Click Save. The form closes and the new value is used to populate the field where you selected the find link.
