Logging in with a LAC to download files

What is a LAC?

A license authorization code (LAC) identifies one or more entitlements. You can use the LAC to log into Poetic and get direct access to an option to download files associated with those entitlements.

Logging in with a LAC

From the Poetic welcome page, to log in with a LAC:

  1. Under Log in with a LAC, in the LAC field, type the LAC.
  • Click Log In. The Quick Key page displays.

Adding additional LACs

To download files associated with more than one LAC:

  1. Click Add more LACs.
  • On the Add LACs form, for each LAC you want to add, type the LAC into one of the LAC fields.
  • If you run out of LAC fields, click Add Lines to add more fields.
  • When you’re finished, click Save.

Providing a machine or registration certificate name or locking ID to search for downloads

The Quick Key may include fields to provide a machine or registration certificate name or locking ID. Locking IDs are on machines only. This allows you to search for available downloads associated with items activated on selected machines or registration certificates.

To download files associated with the entitlements for the LAC or LACs provided, click Download.

Logging in, registering, or bypassing registration

Depending on the configuration, you may be required to either log in or register as a new user before you can continue with the download process.

To log in:

  1. Type your user name into the Login name field.
  • Type your password into the Password field.
  • Click Log in.

To register as a new user:

  1. Type your full name into the Name field.
  • Type your email address into the Email field.
  • Click Register.
  • Fill in the registration form, then click Save.

To bypass registration and activate anonymously, click Bypass Registration.

Selecting a file to download

After you log in, register, or bypass registration:

  • If you only provided LACs as criteria, the Search by Download tab of the Downloads page is displayed
  • If you also provided a machine name or locking ID, the Search by Machine tab is displayed.

The results list contains the downloads associated with the entitlements for the criteria (LACs, machine name, locking ID) you provided.

You can use the remaining criteria to narrow the list.

To download a file, click its Download link.
