Serial Number Pool page

What are Serial Number Pools?

Serial numbers are values, usually sequential numbers. Serial numbers are grouped into serialnumber pools. The pool is what is assigned to a specific item. The serial numbers for that item arethen pulled from that pool.

The Serial Number Pool Maintenance functionality allows authorized users to create and edit Serial Number Pools, as well as see the Serial Numbers associated to the pools.

Searching Serial Number Pool

Only authorized users can see the Search Serial Number Pool page.

  • Login as an Admin user.
  • Go to Administration menu and click on Products.
  • Display the Product Configuration.
  • Then click on Serial number pools.
  • Display Search Serial Number Pools page.

  • The Serial Number Pools page has the following criteria fields.

  • Pool Pub ID%:Does a wild card search using the Serial Number Pool’s Pub Pool Code

  • Pool name%:Does a wild card search using the Serial Number Pool’s Name

  • Available less than %: Is an optional field. The value is used to retrieve pools with less than X % of the available Serial Numbers. Example: Pool ABC has 6% of the Serial Numbers with is_allocated = false.
  • Available less than #: Is an optional field. The value is used to retrieve pools with less than X count of the available Serial Numbers.

  • Status: A dropdown field that searches for Serial Number pools with one of following values:

  • Blank
  • Active

  • Inactive

From the Search Serial Number Pool’s page the users can:

  • Search pool: to display the Serial Number Pool(s) in a result list.
  • Add pool:, to open the Add Serial Number Pool raised form to create a new Serial Number Pool.
  • Edit:, to open the Edit Serial Number Pool raised form to edit an existing Serial Number Pool

Adding Serial Number Pool

  • Login as Admin user.
  • Go to Administration menu and click on Products.
  • Display the Product Configuration.
  • Then click on Serial number pools to display Search Serial Number Pools page.
  • From the Search Serial Number Pools page the Add Pool link
  • Poetic displays the new Add Serial Number Pool raised form.

  • The admin user updates the form with the following values:

  • *Pool Pub ID: ABC_TEST_1
  • *Pool name: ABC Test 1
  • Description: Used for ABC test products
  • *Notification threshold: 10

  • *Notification email: the admin users email address

  • Clicks Save
  • Poetic validates that the Serial Number pool with provided Name and the Pub ID does not exist.

  • Poetic saves the updates and displays the Search Serial Number Pools page

Editing Serial Number Pool

  • Login as Admin user.
  • Go to Administration menu and click on Products.
  • Display the Product Configuration.
  • Then click on Serial number pools to display Search Serial Number Pools page.
  • Enters Serial Number Pool name “ABC_TEST_2” clicks Search Pools.
  • Poetic displays details for Serial Number Pool “ABC_TEST_2”.
  • From the Search Serial Number Pools page the Edit link
  • Poetic displays the new Edit Serial Number Pool raised form.

  • The following values are pre-populated from the database:

  • *Pool Pub ID: “ABC_TEST_2”
  • *Pool name: “ABC_TEST_2”
  • Description:
  • *Pool status: dropdown value “Active”
  • *Notification threshold: 30
  • *Notification email: “licenseadmin@abc.com”
  • Total Serial Numbers #: “600” (read-only)
  • Available Serial Numbers #: “300” (read-only)

  • Available Serial Numbers %: “50” (read-only)

  • The admin user updates the form with the following values:

  • *Pool name: “ABC Test 2”
  • Description: “Used for product Test 2”
  • *Notification email: “jane@abc.com”

  • Clicks the Save button.

  • Poetic updates the values and displays the Search Serial Number Pool page
