About exporting products
Poetic allows you to export product configuration to an XML file. You can then:
-
Import the products into another Poetic instance. For example, after testing and adjusting new product configurations on a test instance, you can import them into the production instance. NOTE: The product custom properties must be configured in exactly the same way on both instances in order to successfully import the exported products.
-
Import the products into an external system, to ensure that all systems are in synch.
Exporting products
To export products to a file:
- On the Administration menu, click Products.
-
On the Product Configuration menu, click Export products. The Search Products for Export page displays.
- To display a list of products, fill in the product search criteria, then click the Search Products button.
-
Check the check box next to each product you want to export. To check or uncheck all of the products on the current page of results, check or uncheck the check box in the column heading.
-
To export the checked products, click Export checked products. To export all of the products in the search results, click Export all results.
The products are exported to a file named product_export_eventID_dateTime.xml , in the directory configured for product exports (Poetic.outbound.ProductImportExport.Dir in FileShare.properties ). For information on managing configuration files, including FileShare.properties , see Managing configuration files.
The file uses the XML schema app_server/lib/poetic_import_export.xsd.
To perform another product export, click Select additional products to export.
To check the status of the export, click View events.
