About exporting and importing templates
Before setting up your notification templates on a production instance, you may want to configure and test them on a test instance.
When you have verified that the notifications have the correct look and feel, and contain the correct data, you can replicate the templates on the production system.
To make this easier, Poetic allows you to export notification templates from an instance and import them into another instance.
Exporting notification templates
On the Search Notification Templates page, to export all of the notification templates that are listed in the search results, click the Export results link on the toolbar.
The Export Notification Templates page displays. It includes a link to the event ID generated for the export.
Poetic exports the notification templates to an XML file in the outbound/NotificationTemplate directory on the File Share.
Importing notification templates from an exported file
To import the exported templates into another instance:
- On the instance where you exported the templates, download the exported file from the File Share. See Downloading files from the File Share.
- On the instance where you want to create or update the templates, upload the file to that instance’s File Share. See Uploading files to the File Share.
If the file contains a new copy of an existing template, then Poetic uses the information in the file to create the new template.
If the XML file includes a template that is already on the new instance, then Poetic uses the information in the XML file to update the existing template.
Poetic only uses region information for regions that exist on the new instance.
For the Default from setting:
- If the region in the file exists in the new instance, Poetic changes the Default from to use that region.
-
If the region does not exist:
- For new templates, Poetic sets the default from to the first available region.
-
For existing templates, Poetic does not update the Default from.
For the email addresses (from, BCC, and alternate) associated with each region:
- For each region that exists on the new instance, Poetic uses the email address information from the XML file.
- Poetic ignores regions that do not exist in the new instance.
